Department Overview:

The GfK Brand & Communications Group specializes in helping our assigned clients appropriately and successfully position their brands, products and company and measure their advertising effectiveness.

Specific Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, the Research Manager handles a wide range of projected related tasks including responsibility for managing survey research projects from questionnaire development through data analysis and report writing.   He or she is expected to develop a broad range of research experience.  Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with and builds knowledge of marketing research projects (i.e. conjoint, customer satisfaction, multi-wave tracking) by analyzing and interpreting marketing research data.
  • Has primary responsibility for writing analysis programs using SAS and an in-house proprietary cross tabulation program.  Populates reports with SAS and cross tabulation output and ensures accuracy of data.
  • Manages projects utilizing different custom research data collection methodologies and understands the applicability and the differences of the various methods.
  • Ensures data is collected and delivered accurately by effectively managing the data collection process on assigned studies.
  • Solves day-to-day data/client issues with minimal supervision.
  • Obtains bids for fieldwork, collects accurate information and coordinates the estimate for final review by supervisor.
  • Independently constructs and implements analytical plans for simple studies and with supervisor's guidance for complex studies.

Experience & Skills:

  • 2 - 5 years related work experience in market research or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Research Skills: Must have strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of research design and methodology.   Some knowledge of multivariate statistics is preferred.
  • Data Analysis: Ability to demonstrate quantitative skills using SPSS or SAS, plus the ability to merge and interpret data sets.   Must have math skills and an interest in working with large data sets first hand.
  • Project Management: Must be a critical thinker with strong organizational skills and an ability to manage all aspects of project work.
  • Communication: Must have ability to communicate clearly and cultivate relationships with clients and other team members.
  • People interaction: Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Education Requirements:

BA/BS in Social Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent; MA/MS desirable.
