A significant proportion of the market have effective multi-platform usage and are increasingly demanding access to services from a range of platforms. Consumers will increasingly expect connectivity to follow devices, mobile within and outside of the home. Implications for the way in which media is consumed but also implications for potential network congestion / limitations. More work needs to be done to encourage multiple connectivity options to keep pace with opportunities created by devices Important not to stereotype usage of mobile devices as being ‘on the move’ as they are often being used in home or in other fixed points. Mobile broadband is attracting very wide usage of apps, including data heavy entertainment applications. There may be a need to direct consumers to usage of home WiFi to avoid network congestion for these. Bundling connectivity solutions is clearly a key opportunity for vendors.Key finding Implication for businesses The challenge for all parties in this space is to ensure that consumers are able to navigate multiple devices and connectivity simply and easily.
