Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Vice President, Business Intelligence must possess the necessary technical skills and managerial experience, in order to effectively lead a software development team. 

  • Define and implement solutions to meet business objectives and requirements defined by the sales & marketing organization and account teams
  • Define application development strategy
  • Lead the team to define and achieve objectives that are in line with department, GfK Custom Research North America, and overall GfK strategy and objectives
  • Develop the technical and managerial skills of a medium-sized software development organization
  • Build and promote a solid team environment
  • Provide opportunities for growth for department staff through training and through opportunities to work with new technologies
  • Manage team members day to day via one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, setting individual objectives, etc
  • Write comprehensive proposals for technical solutions in response to RFP’s and other requests, including cost estimates
  • Oversee the team’s portfolio of projects to deliver on time and on budget
  • Manage technical platform direction, core framework architecture, and development
  • Manage team resources to fulfill business objectives, including utilization targets
  • Recruit and hire additional resources as needed
  • Keep department leadership informed of project status, staff priorities, and progress against plans

Experience & Skill Responsibilities:

  • Application development in a Microsoft .NET environment
  • Application architecture
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as C#.NET, SQL Server, SharePoint Portal
  • Market Research experience preferred
  • Fixed-bid proposal writing in response to RFP’s
  • Experience managing a team of employees
  • Ability to mentor junior team members
  • Team player
  • Detail oriented with a thorough and systematic approach to problem solving
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a high energy, fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Proactive thinker, who offers creative solutions
  • Self starter/self initiator 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
  • 7-10 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
